Jan Romanowski – a violinist, a music teacher, a composer, an
arranger
Born on 14 September, 1978
In 2001 he graduated with honors from the Ignacy Paderewski Academy
of Music in Poznań, in theViolin Class of Professor M. Baranowski.
He is a prize-winner of enormous number of competitions. In the
Polish National S. Serwaczyński Competition for Young Violinists
in Lublin he won the third prize in 1990, and in 1998 the fourth
one. As the first violinist of the Ensemble AGUTTI QUARTET he
was awarded the third proze in the 13th International Interacademic
Competition of Chamber Ensembles in Łódź in 1998. He also received
an honorary degree in the Macroregional Auditions for Students
from Secondary Schools of Music in Cracow (1993) and also in the
Polish National Auditions for Students from Violin and Viola Classes
in Elbląg (1993). He also participated in the 5th, the 6th and
7th K. Lipiński and H. Wieniawski International Competition for
Young Violinists in Lublin (1991, 1994, 1997) and in the First
Family Groblicz International Violin Competition in Cracow in
1996. He was also a holder of a scholarship of Children’s Art.
Foundation.
He improved his violin playing, taking part in the Hindemith Summer
European Foundation Academy in Blonay (Switzerland) in 1996 and
also in the Summer Music Academy in Źagań (1994,1996,1997). His
artistic output consists of numerous recitals and concerts, among
others, those with the State Lublin Philharmonic, recordings for
the Radio and Television in Lublin, and also performances within
the cycles of lecture concerts of the State Philharmonic in Poznań.
Being a
student of the I. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań he performed
many times with the academic orchestra as a leader of the strings.
In the years 1999 and 2000 he worked on the same post in the
New Century Chamber Orchestra conducted by D. Tabisz.
As a member of AGUTII QUARTET he toured in his country and abroad,
among others, within the Berlin-Straussberg Jewish Music Festival
with an outstanding clarinetist G. Feidman. In the years 1998-2001
he also cooperated with G. Bregovic’s string orchestra, giving
concerts all over the world. In 1998 he recorded music to the
radio play “Marina” (compaser: A. Dąbrowski, direction: W. Modestowicz).
In the same period he cooperated with The Eighth Day Theatre
in Poznań and Hanna Banaszak, too.
Since 1998
he has been a cofounder and a member of the Ensemble TRIO TAUKLAMAKAN
with which he has successfully been touring in Poland and in
the world, performing, among others, folk music, Piazzolla’s
tangos and his own compositions (www.trio.taklamakan.pl).
Since the
beginning of 1999 he has begun his work as a violin teacher
in the Group of Schools of Music in Poznań. Since then he has
been preparing numerous programmes and and concerts promoting
his school and also he has been organizing and he has been leading
music workshops and musical and theatrical workshops during
summer holidays. In 2005 he passed the examination, becoming
appointed to a post of a music teacher and in September in 2006
he became the supervisor of the String Instruments and Guitar
Section in the State Secondary Schol of Music.
Since 2004
he has been a manager, an arranger and the artistic consultant
of Mundana Quartet.
At the
end of 2004 he started the cooperation with The Artistic Platform
O.B.O.R.A. in Poznań which resulted in creating theatrical and
musical performance “Och Szczęście” (Oh Good Luck) directed
by Janusz Andrzejewski, in which he performs as a musician and
an actor with Trio Taklamakan at the same time. In August 2006
he was awarded the individual prize in the 15th Polish National
Open-air Theater Festival in Warsaw.
Since the
beginning of 2005 he has started the regular artistic cooperation
with the pianist, Michał Karasiewicz, setting a classical duet
for violin and piano, ARDENTE, in which hehas worked out an
original concert programme of virtuoso’s character.
In the same year he became the member of the film group METAMORPHOSIS,
creating and performing music to the film “Szczęściarze” (Lucky
People), which was shown, among others, during The Feature Film
Festival in Gdynia in 2006.
For a few
years he has been an inventor and a creator of the annual artistic
project on the occasion of the International Music Day to which
he invites the Poznań friendly artists.
